IPL 2023: MS Dhoni Gives A Shocking Statement After CSK’S Loss

MS Dhoni Gives A Shocking Statement After CSK'S Loss

Shane Watson, a former Australia all-rounder who played alongside Dhoni for CSK, has commented on this intriguing MSD belief system. Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings came close, with 54 needed off the last three overs. He and Jadeja reduced the equation down to 7 needed off three balls in the IPL 2023.

Despite hitting back-to-back sixes in the final over, Dhoni finished the game unbeaten on 34 off 17 balls. Although the CSK captain couldn’t lead his team to victory. Everyone was praising Dhoni’s incredible skills for a 41-year-old.

“You look at the field, you look at the bowler and what he or she is trying to do. You need to back your strength, and my strength is to hit straight. So I would wait for it and that is something that has worked for me,” he said.

Shane Watson, a former all-rounder for Australia and Dhoni’s teammate at CSK has commented on MSD’s interesting philosophy. Pointing out how it stands in sharp contrast to the way Australian cricketers are raised.

Dhoni has consistently stood by his claim that he enjoys playing the game long, hoping that the bowler will falter under pressure, but Watson believes it’s not the typical strategy for a chase.

MS has the best skills in the business. The previous two years were a little strange. Despite his obvious overzealous efforts, he was unable to consistently get the ball out of the middle of his bat. He most certainly is this year.

MS Dhoni is in a good form

My observation of MS Dhoni has always been that he approaches chases from a different angle, which is unusual but has contributed to his success. According to him, the pressure on the bowler increases as the game progresses.

MSD says, “I’m going to take it deep into the last over because there is much more pressure on the bowler,” as opposed to that. MSD has consistently acted in this way.

Watson continued, “Based solely on how much I had seen of Sandeep previously. I was almost certain that Dhoni would give CSK a glorifying finish”.

Sandeep Sharma was under enormous pressure simply because of the script that shows MSD doing it so frequently after the last ball.

“But Sandeep is someone I’ve played against quite a bit, and once you got the better of him, he wasn’t going anywhere. He will find it extremely difficult to finish an over if you get him for a boundary off the first ball,” continued Watson.
