MS Dhoni is known for his brilliant captaincy and once again it was seen in the match against Mumbai Indians when he set the trap for the dismissal of MI captain Rohit Sharma, who suffered his second consecutive injury in IPL 2023.
Chennai Super Kings briefly held the top spot in the points table during the current IPL 2023. However, following back-to-back losses to the Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings, rain forced the Lucknow Super Giants to abandon their campaign, and Chennai’s campaign found itself suddenly facing some questions.
On Saturday, Chennai hosted their bitter rival Mumbai Indians at home in an effort to snap their losing streak and earn two valuable points as well. The home team made a stunning start to the match after winning the toss and choosing to bowl first.
Playing at home against well-known opponents, Chennai had to rely on their strengths. Add some MS Dhoni magic to that, and the result was a stunning start.

Mumbai was three down after three overs and had sent their entire top order back to the hut. Given how Dhoni orchestrated the wicket, Rohit Sharma’s dismissal from the Mumbai Indians was also a standout wicket. It was Sharma’s second consecutive IPL 2023 dismissal.
MS Dhoni made the decision to trick Rohit in the third over of the game. The moment Dhoni approached the stump with Deepak Chahar in the attack, a backward point, a short third, and a slip were all stationed. The pacer delivered the ball more slowly, and Rohit knelt down to play the lap shot over short fine leg.
However, he may have played the shot slightly too early because the ball took the outside edge, clipped his thumb, and then lobbed toward the gully area. At a backward point, Ravindra Jadeja ran in easily and made the catch.
While on-air commentators were left perplexed by how Rohit Sharma fell into the trap, Chahar was jubilant as he pointed at Dhoni and thanked him for his role in the dismissal.
Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a duck for the second game in a row after doing so against Punjab Kings in the previous game. The actual results of his last four tests were 2, 3, 0, and 0. Additionally, Rohit was dismissed for a duck 16 times in the IPL, which is the most ever for a batter in the history of the competition.
