In order to help Mumbai Indians secure a huge victory, Nehal Wadhera hit his second fifty of the competition. The duo added 140 runs at the Wankhede off just 66 balls. Nehal Wadhera hit his second half-century of the IPL 2023.
After the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday, May 9 at the Wankhede Stadium, Wadhera opened up on his second half-century of the IPL 2023 and led the team past the finish line in the game’s 17th over, while chasing 200 runs successfully.
After a stunning show in a match against Chennai Super Kings, he has been reaching significant milestones once again. The young left-hander claimed during the award ceremony that batting higher in the order was allowing him to express himself more.
“In the order, it was enjoyable to bat up. I was knocking the order down earlier. I am pleased with the fact that I had a chance to bat and that I scored back-to-back fifties. But even more pleased with how the team played and how the game turned out. Here at Wankhede, we’ve played a few games where we’ve easily chased these 200 totals. Once more, we did it. I am really happy with how I finished the game and I had the confidence in myself to do the job for my team,” Nehal Wadhera said following the game.
Despite losing captain Rohit Sharma early in the game, Mumbai Indians destroyed Royal Challengers Bangalore. Ishan Kishan got things going in a big way, but Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera kept the chase moving along and finished it off with 21 balls left. The performance was launched by Suryakumar Yadav, who hit 83 off just 35 balls, including 6 sixes and 7 boundaries. While Wadhera acknowledged that it was enjoyable to bat with Surya, he was unable to replicate his strokes.
“Yeah, batting with Surya bhai is so enjoyable. I tried to duplicate some of his shots, but I was unable to do so because they required a lot of skill. Surya bhai makes an excellent batting partner. He just told me that if we both keep going, we can pull this off much earlier than expected. In my previous game against Chennai Super Kings, I attempted to play the scoop. These are the ones that I have never played before in my career. Following the game, Wadhera said, “I’ve learned these from Surya bhai.”
