Due to a shoulder injury, Parnell will replace Topley in the IPL 2023. Rajat Patidar will be replaced by medium-pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak of Karnataka, according to RCB.
Reece Topley is an English fast bowler. He will not participate in IPL 2023 after dislocating his right shoulder on April 2 against the Mumbai Indians while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Additionally, Rajat Patidar’s replacement by Royal Challengers is Karnataka medium-pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak.
Topley made his debut and took one for fourteen from two overs, dismissing Cameron Green. He hurt himself while diving for the ball in the field.
His arm was in a sling when he left for Kolkata on Monday with the rest of the Royal Challengers team. David Willey, a fellow countryman, took his place in the starting XI.
During Thursday night’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers head coach Sanjay Bangar announced to the IPL’s world feed that Reece had to return home due to being disqualified from the competition.
Topley was hired for INR 1.9 crore (roughly £190,000) by Royal Challengers, who entered the December auction with a base price of INR 75 lakh (roughly $75,000).
Following Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar, he is the third member of the Royal Challengers to be sidelined for the entire campaign due to injury.
Topley’s professional career has been marred by recurrent injuries. He got injured and could not be playing in the T20 World Cup after rolling his ankle while stepping on a boundary cushion prior to a warm-up game.
Parnell, on the other hand, last participated in the IPL in 2014. From 2011 to 2013, he was a member of the Pune Warriors team, which is no longer in existence. In 2014, he played for Delhi Capitals (previously Daredevils).
In the IPL, he has participated in 26 games and claimed 26 wickets. He has participated in 257 T20 matches overall, taking 259 wickets and scoring 1887 runs. For 75 lakh Indian rupees, he was hired.
Since 2021, Vyshak has participated in 31 games for Karnataka across various formats. He was acquired by Royal Challengers for INR 20 lakh after taking 22 wickets in 14 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy games over the previous two seasons.
Josh Hazlewood and Wanindu Hasaranga are anticipated to join the team on April 10 and April 14, respectively, according to Bangar, who also confirmed these dates.
Bangar did not completely rule out the possibility that Hasaranga would play in Royal Challengers’ upcoming match against Lucknow Super Giants on April 10 at home.
“Hasaranga will arrive for us on the 10th. So we’ll have to consider that as well as how he handles the lengthy flight from New Zealand. We now have another headache, but it’s a good headache because Karn [Sharma] has been taking his chances extremely well.”
On April 17, against Chennai Super Kings, Hazlewood, who has been sidelined with an Achilles injury. He could return, according to Bangar. The bowler had earlier stated that he would need to wait until either of their games on April 20 or 23 to return.
“Josh will be here on the 14th, Bangar said. He will work with us for a few sessions and, hopefully, by the 17th, should be prepared to leave.”
