IPL 2023: Rajasthan Royals Get Better Of CSK At Chepauk

Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Super Kings by 3 runs in yet another last-ball thriller in the IPL 2023. Sanju Samson was fined 12 lakhs for slow over-rate. Chennai Super Kings almost pulled the game back when they needed 50 in 17 balls. Chennai Super Kings lose the 2nd game of this season.

Rajasthan Royals comfortably sit at the top of the points table winning 3 out of 4 matches. Ravichandran Ashwin produced yet another masterclass of bowling. The Stalwart took 2 wickets in 4 and conceded only 25 runs. Ashwin also came out to bat ahead of Shimron Hetmyer. Rajasthan Royals made a competitive total of 176 in 20 overs.

Chennai Super Kings lost Ruturaj Gaikwad early in the innings, and Conway and Rahane stitched a good partnership to bring CSK back into the game. But it was never easy with Rajasthan’s bowling

Chennai Super Kings lost 3 wickets in quick succession. Rajasthan Royals brought in Adam Zampa as an impact player for Buttler. Samson said, “We had a good powerplay with Rutu getting out and the thought was if we can get out of the powerplay without giving away too much then we have the spinners to do the job.”

“The last two overs were tense, i tried to push it deep but you are never safe with that guy (Dhoni). You have to have respect for Dhoni and what he can do. Nothing works against him.”

Earlier RCB captain Faf Du Plessis had to face a similar fine. The game between Rajasthan and Chennai was all about whose spinners performed better. Theeksana gave away 42 runs in his 4 overs and Moeen Ali 21 in his 2.

On the other hand, Ashwin and Chahal were economical. Conway’s innings was a good attempt to finish the game and bat deep, but the failure of the batsmen at the other end made it difficult for him.
