It was a historic night for the Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma as he became the fourth batter in Indian Premier League history to score 6000 IPL runs. He achieved this milestone during the first innings of match number 25 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on 18 April 2023.

Before this match, Rohit Sharma required 14 runs to achieve the milestone of 6000 IPL runs. SRH captain Aiden Markram won the toss and asked MI to bat first. The veteran Indian batter smashed the milestone with a brilliant pull shot against Washington Sundar. Rohit Sharma looked in superb form smashing 28 runs off 18 deliveries including 3 successive boundaries off T Natarajan.

Rohit Sharma was eventually caught by Aiden Markram to lay a strong foundation for a decent total. He looked out of sorts for Mumbai Indians over the last three seasons. He scored a match-winning knock of 65 against Delhi Capitals which was his first fifty in IPL after 24 innings. Rohit became the slowest batter to achieve 6000 IPL runs after 227 IPL innings.

The Indian legend played for Deccan Chargers first and won the title in 2009 on the South African shore. After becoming the captain from2013, Rohit Sharma won five titles in IPL history making Mumbai Indians the most successful franchise in IPL history.

Mumbai Indians won the IPL title in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020 with Rohit Sharma as the captain. Rohit has made it so far 6014 runs from 232 matches (227 winnings), including 1 century and 41 half-centuries. During his 15-year IPL career, Rohit scored 6014 runs at an average of 30.22 and a strike rate of 130.03.
