Sourav Ganguly posted a tweet praising the “standard” of the IPL on a day when three centuries were scored in the final double-header of IPL 2023 by Cameron Green, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill.
Only a few days have passed since the Virat Kohli vs. Sourav Ganguly dispute was resolved when the two former India captains shook hands and put the “no handshake” controversy behind them. However, Ganguly showed no mercy in his “standards” tweet, praising only Gill and Green’s centuries and ignoring Virat Kohli’s record IPL ton as well.
Fans believe Sourav Ganguly purposefully left out Virat Kohli in his tweet
Dada you forgot to mention shubham's inspiration & idol!

Fans noticed a flaw in the tweet and felt that Kohli, who scored a record-breaking seventh IPL century and surpassed Universe Boss Chris Gayle to the milestone, wasn’t mentioned. Given what happened when Kohli was fired as India’s ODI captain while Ganguly was the BCCI president, the two haven’t exactly had the best relationships.
Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly had a great rapport, but the whole captaincy scandal soured things for them. According to reports, Kohli wanted to remain India’s captain in the other two formats when he gave up the T20I captaincy after the World Cup in 2021, especially with an eye toward the 2023 World Cup.
However, Ganguly and the other members of the BCCI selection committee thought the idea of having two captains for the two limited-overs formats didn’t make much sense. So they recommended Kohli resign from his position as India’s ODI captain as well.
Things got worse when the BCCI simply sent out a tweet announcing that Rohit Sharma had been named India’s new ODI captain without even acknowledging everything that Virat Kohli had accomplished. The BCCI praised Kohli’s leadership as the captain of the Indian team after he faced criticism from the public, but the issue did not end there.
When Kohli abruptly announced his resignation as India’s Test captain a month after India’s series defeat in South Africa, everyone was taken aback. It is believed that Kohli’s fallout with Ganguly and the board played a significant role in the particularly terrible year 2022 that he had.
