At the conclusion of the match against the Punjab Kings on April 30, the head coach of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Stephen Fleming addressed a query regarding MS Dhoni’s IPL retirement.

In the match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, CSK played host to PBKS. Punjab successfully chased down a 201-run target in a nail-biting last-ball thriller. As CSK fans got their heart broken after suffering a devastating defeat.

The CSK supporters were thrilled to see captain MS Dhoni smash two sixes off the final two balls of the innings despite being disappointed with the outcome.

IPL 2023, in the opinion of many fans, will be Dhoni’s final campaign. Even CSK’s captain has made oblique references to the possibility that this match could be his final one as a member of the Chennai-based team.

Stephen Fleming responded as to whether Dhoni had discussed his retirement with him:

Stephen King

“No, he hasn’t made any indications. MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming are eager to get Chennai Super Kings back on the winning track,” he stated.

At the end of the first half of the IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings led the points standings. However, the Chennai-based team has had difficulty so far in the second half of the competition. They were defeated by the Rajasthan Royals earlier this week, and yesterday evening, they were defeated at home by the Punjab Kings.

The management of the team might be tempted to make some changes because CSK’s bowlers have given up too many runs in recent games.

However, given that CSK lost to PBKS despite scoring 200 against them, the team management may need to make some difficult choices. MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming do not make any changes to their starting lineups.

On May 3, CSK will face Lucknow Super Giants in their next season match. To see if they can snap their two-match losing streak will be interesting.
