IPL 2023: Sunil Gavaskar Takes A Dig At Ambati Rayudu For His Poor Performance

Ambati Rayudu replaced Aakash Singh in the CSK camp in the IPL 2023. However, after reports linked Rayudu’s tweet to Sunil Gavaskar’s “no fielding, no runs” remark, the latter responded with a blunt tweet to put an end to the rumours.

Rayudu’s “3-D glasses” tweet, which he sent after being left off India’s roster for the 2019 ODI World Cup, is not unknown to many Indian cricket fans.

The cricketer Vijay Shankar was chosen over Rayudu for the World Cup. The BCI chairman of selectors MSK Prasad referred to him as a “3-D cricketer” for his capacity to contribute in all three areas of the game.

He abruptly announced his retirement from all forms of cricket a year later. Which MS Dhoni and the CSK management forced him to delete a few hours later. Since April of this year, Rayudu or ATR as he is known on the microblogging platform, has resumed tweeting. He no longer sports a blue tick due to Twitter’s new policy that eliminates legacy verification badges.

Rayudu criticizes the “nonsense” responses to his tweet following the RR vs CSK game.

After a few routine tweets, the right-hander made headlines once more on Friday. After CSK’s loss to Rajasthan Royals in an IPL 2023 match in Jaipur, Rayadu tweeted a motivational message.

”Ups and downs are a constant in life and sports. The situation will improve if we maintain our positive attitude and diligence. Not all of the time do our efforts reflect our results. So always remember to smile and take pleasure in the process,” he wrote.

It was assumed that the tweet was a response to the former India captain after he received criticism from legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar for being dismissed for a second-ball duck after entering the game as an Impact Player.

What nonsense! My tweet has nothing to do with the legendary Mr Gavaskar’s remarks. Regarding my fielding, I highly respect his viewpoints. A player does not choose whether or not to field, according to him.

Gavaskar essentially criticized Rayudu for showing up as an Impact Player without playing any time on the field. The new Impact Player rule allows teams to substitute any of the five players who had previously been nominated for the XI at any time during the game.

Rayudu, who replaced CSK’s left-arm pacer, Aakash Singh was dismissed for a second-ball duck. By a score of 32 runs, CSK was defeated.
