IPL 2023: The Former India Head Coach Ravi Shastri Drops A Bombshell About Team India

Shastri drops a bombshell about Team India: “There were people inside selection meetings who weren’t supposed to be there”. The former India head coach, Ravi Shastri made a significant admission regarding his time in the position.

Ravi Shastri, the former head coach of India made a huge admission regarding his tenure in the position. Under Ravi Shastri’s leadership, Team India made significant advancements to rank among the best touring teams in the sport.

Shastri’s Indian team never won an ICC championship. But they did win memorable series against Australia Down Under, put on strong shows in England and South Africa, and won limited-overs series in New Zealand.

“I Wasn’t Invited To A Single Selection Meeting,” claims Ravi Shastri in a major revelation.

Ravi Shastri

Shastri resigned as captain in 2021 following the T20 World Cup after a tumultuous few months for Indian cricket during which Virat Kohli was relieved of his duties as captain in ODIs but kept the position in Tests a month later.

Sourav Ganguly, the then-president of the BCCI and Kohli also fell out. There were rumours that Ganguly attended selection meetings throughout Kohli’s tenure on the board.

Shastri has finally spoken out regarding the selection meetings that were conducted under his direction. The former head coach admitted that he has never attended one, but claimed that many people who were “not supposed” to attend attended the meetings.

I never went near a selection meeting during the seven years. As I was a member of the team. I was also not invited. Shastri believes in the long run.

“I don’t know what’s happening, how the meeting got started, how it ended, or who is there. According to what I understand, many individuals who weren’t supposed to be there were present during the selection meetings over the course of the last three to four years. It violates the constitution”, added Shastri.

Ganguly resigned from his position as BCCI President in October of last year and Roger Binny took over. Before Hardik Pandya started leading the Indian team in T20Is at the beginning of 2023.

Rohit Sharma took over the captaincy on a full-time basis in all formats last year. Neither Rohit nor Kohli participated in either of India’s two T20I series this season.
