Former cricketer AB de Villiers feels the Mumbai Indians have an edge over the Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator of the 2023 Indian Premier League. He expressed that Mumbai Indians become different in the knockout stages. The Rohit Sharma-led team will take on Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday, May 24 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The Mumbai Indians are one of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League, winning the championship five times. They have a vast experience of playing in knockout stages, which gives them an edge in the upcoming match. Speaking to Jio Cinema, former cricketer AB de Villiers shared two things that are going in the favour of Mumbai Indians. He said,
“I feel that MI have two things going in their favour, they what knockouts are all about, they’ve won this tournament five times. No one has done that, so when Rohit and his team get to the knockout stages, they become a different team. Number 2 is that they are coming with momentum.”

Mumbai Indians have worked really hard to get to the knockout stage: AB de Villiers
The Mumbai Indians’ campaign in the 2023 Indian Premier League got off to a poor start after losing their first two matches. They made a good comeback, but a loss against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium hurt their chances. The Rohit Sharma-led team finally made it to the playoff as Royal Challengers Bangalore lost to Gujarat Titans.
Former cricketer AB de Villiers expressed that the Mumbai Indians have worked hard to get to the knockout stages. He added that the five-time champions are a dangerous team in the playoffs. AB de Villiers said,
“They’ve worked really hard to get to the knockout stage. We’ve seen that happen before. They’ve lost five of their opening matches and then gone on to win the IPL. Similar situation, not quite zero out of five. But they were off to a poor start and now they’re in the knockouts. They’re a dangerous team in the tournament now.”
