Lucknow Super Giants chase down a massive total of 213 in the last ball thriller against Royal Challengers Bangalore played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on 10 April 2023 in the IPL 2023.
After being asked to bat first, Virat Kohli began the innings with positive intent right from the word go and put pressure on LSG bowlers. On the other Faf du Plessis struggled as he could not time shots. At the end of the first six overs, RCB scored 56 for 0.
Kohli showed his class and completed his half-century off 35 balls. He was eventually dismissed for 61. Kohli and du Plessis added 96 runs for the opening partnership laying a strong foundation. Glenn Maxwell came to the crease looking a little edgy before putting enough pressure on LSG bowlers. Faf du Plessis smashed Ravi Bishnoi’s massive six in the 15th over that went out of the ground.

Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell looked stunned by Faf du Plessis’s shot that went 115 meters. It was an amazing batting display by Maxwell and du Plessis hitting sixes at will to keep LSG bowlers under the pump. Faf du Plessis reached half-century off 35 deliveries and then upped the ante with his attacking strokes. Glenn Maxwell joined the party with half-century off 24 balls. Mark Wood dismissed Maxwell in the final over. Maxwell and Faf put on 115 runs for the 2nd wicket. At the end of 20 overs, RCB posted 211 for 2.
RCB could not defend 212.
Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a perfect start as Mohammed Siraj dismissed Kyle Mayers in the very first over. Wayne Parnell struck twice in quick succession getting rid of Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya to leave LSG struggling at 23 for 3. Marcus Stoinis showed his class with attacking strokes putting RCB bowlers under pressure.
Stoinis looked in sublime touch reaching fifty off just 25 balls to keep the momentum going for LSG. Karn Sharma struck to dismiss dangerous Stoinis. Stoinis and KL Rahul added 76 runs changing the momentum for LSG.
KL Rahul struggled and was eventually dismissed to leave LSG in big trouble. Harshal Patel and other RCB bowlers were taken to the cleaners by Nicolas Pooran with big shots. Pooran completed half-century off just 15 deliveries and changed the momentum in favor of LSG. Ayush Badoni looked impressive and rotated the strike.
Siraj struck to get rid of Pooran with simple catch to Shahbaz. Pooran and Badoni added 84 runs for the 6th wicket.
Harshal Patel came back strongly picking wickets of Mark Wood and Jaydev Unadkat in the final over. Dinesh Karthik could not handle pressure as Lucknow Super Giants won the encounter by 1 wicket.
Mohammed Siraj and Wayne Parnell took 3 wickets each while Harshal Patel took 2, and impact player Karn Sharma 1 for 48 in 3 overs.
