The Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis pulled off a stunning catch against the Mumbai Indians in the 2023 Indian Premier League. His outstanding effort sent Hrithik Shokeen back to the hut on Sunday, April 2 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The incident took place during the eighteenth over of the innings off Harshal Patel’s bowling. The pacer bowled a fuller delivery outside off stump. Hrithik Shokeen came forward and played a lofted shot. However, he was caught brilliantly by Faf du Plessis at the mid-off region. Faf moved back and took a great catch over his shoulders with two hands. Shokeen had to walk back for five runs off three deliveries.

My plan was to adjust to the wicket: Tilak Varma
Mumbai Indians managed to put on 171 runs on the board on the back of Tilak Varma’s 84 runs knock. He slammed nine boundaries and four sixes at a strike rate of 182.61. Nehal Wadhera and Arshad Khan also contributed valuable runs to the total. Meanwhile, Karn Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets in the innings.
Batter Tilak Varma spoke about his knock in the mid-innings break. He said,
“My plan was to adjust to the wicket and see how it was doing. It was holding a bit. So, I took my time initially and then see how it goes. My mindset was positive and I was constantly talking to my partners and asking them what a good score would be. The ball from the spinners was holding up a bit. So, they were a little tough as compared to the pacers. I was thinking that he can bowl wide yorkers. He was under pressure. I was just backing myself to punish him if he missed, so he was under pressure there.”
