On Sunday, April 23, in Bengaluru, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Mohammed Siraj added to his remarkable season by dismissing Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Jos Buttler for a duck in the IPL 2023.

Following sensational half-centuries from Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis, RCB batted first and posted a formidable total of 189-9 in their 20 overs. Following up, Siraj dismissed the lead Royals batter, Jos Buttler, with just the fourth delivery of the contest with a peach of a delivery that uprooted the middle stump.

Since joining the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in 2018, Mohammed Siraj has made significant progress every year to establish himself as the team’s leading bowler. In the last three seasons, RCB’s ability to reach the postseason was largely due to Siraj’s outstanding performances.

Mohammed Siraj is praised by RCB bowling coach Adam Griffith as “one of the best in the world at the moment.”

Adam Griffith, a current RCB bowling coach and a former Australian cricketer, praised Mohammed Siraj after their recent victory over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Thursday, April 20 by a score of 24 runs. Griffith was particularly taken by Siraj’s ability to manage his length.

At the press conference following the game, he said: “He’s one of the best in the world right now. Even in the last game, in which 444 runs were scored, he scored 30 runs. He has been bowling exceptionally well throughout the entire tournament and even before that, so it is not just today. It is no accident that our PowerPlays have been so successful with the ball thus far in this tournament; he is our captain and the one who sets the tone for us with the new ball.”

“He is controlling his line phenomenally well, which is something I believe he is doing really good. He’s not falling for the fallacy that says I have to pitch the ball up to swing it. In order to prevent the batter from driving him, he is still swinging it from a really long distance. In addition to swinging the ball, this year’s highlight for him has been his ability to get the ball into the right-hander and move across to the left-hander.”

Mohammed Siraj had a stellar 2023 season in international cricket, taking 20 wickets across all formats in just 11 matches at a perfect average of 16.20. He is number one. 3, according to the ICC Men’s ODI bowling rankings.

The 29-year-old has maintained his excellent form throughout the current IPL season, taking 13 wickets in seven games.
