At the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, April 29, Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Mohit Sharma took an incredible catch to dismiss Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Shardul Thakur despite being injured in the ongoing IPL 2023.

In the fifth over of KKR’s innings, the incident happened. Mohammed Shami, an expert pacer, bowled a delivery that Thakur mistimed. In order to judge it perfectly, Mohit ran backwards at mid-trail, looked over his right shoulder, and then stretched fully forward.

Mohit Sharma took a stunner:

During the initial few overs, the 34-year-old failed to enter the field. He held an ice pack for a while, but nothing could keep him from snatching the excellent catch. When Gujarat’s Abhinav Manohar dropped KKR opener N Jagadeesan for a chance to score earlier in the day, Mohit appeared upset in the dugout.

In terms of bowling, Mohit Sharma has been in outstanding shape during IPL 2023. At an astounding economy rate of 6 points 15, the right-arm pacer has taken six wickets in his first four IPL 2023 matches. He has distinguished himself as the defending champions’ top death bowler.

On Saturday, Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, won the toss and decided to field against the Kolkata Knight Riders. In the wake of their triumph over the Mumbai Indians (MI), they started with the same lineup.

On the other hand, KKR made compelled substitutions in the form of medium pacer Harshit Rana and wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Injured players Umesh Yadav and Jason Roy were replaced by the pair.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz (60*(31)) and Rinku Singh (1*(5)) are at the wicket for KKR, who are 97/4 after 12 overs of the first innings of the game. Gujarat Titans chased the target set by Kolkata Knight Riders pretty comfortably with the brilliance of Shubhman Gill, David Miller, and Vijay Shankar at IPL 2023.
