MS Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), lost his composure a few times during the IPL 2023 match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Thursday, April 27 in Jaipur. The incident happened in the sixteenth over when Dhoni attempted a quick direct hit at the non-strikers’ end.
The batter was able to get to the crease with ease because bowler Matheesha Pathirana, who was midway down the pitch, accidentally stopped it. As soon as he saw what happened, MS Dhoni expressed his disappointment and angrily told the young pacer to leave the ball alone.
Devdutt Padikkal of RR hit a big shot into the air off the last pitch of the inning that just about cleared the infield on the leg side. Shivam Dube returned and grabbed the ball, but his throw was off-target. The batters capitalized on it by scoring three runs. Dube’s poor throw left MS Dhoni miffed, and he glared at him angrily.
Here is how MS Dhoni reacted:

After opening the innings against the MS Dhoni-led CSK team, RR scored 202/5. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who chose to bat first in the match, got things off to an explosive start by hammering the inexperienced CSK new bowlers all over the park for 77 runs off of 43 balls. To establish a strong foundation, Jaiswal and Jos Buttler (27), combined for an 86-run opening stand in 8-point two overs.
After taking wickets in the middle overs, Tushar Deshpande (2/42) and Ravindra Jadeja (1/32) helped CSK get back in the game. Jaiswal appeared to be in excellent form but lost his life in the 14th over. With crucial cameos that helped RR reach 202/5, Dhruv Jurel (34 off 15 balls) and Devdutt Padikkal (27* off 13 balls) put a great bow on the innings.
Yashasvi Jaiswal discussed the first innings during the mid-innings break and said:
“We’ll try to defend it because I think the total is excellent. Let’s see what transpires. However, I have no doubt that we won’t fall short. (On his batting performance this season) Pretty good; I like it. I’m just trying to execute all of my shots, continue chit-chatting with the more experienced players, and learn more about the venue”.
“I just have a positive mindset, attitude and want to take a chance to score runs. It’s easier because we always talk about playing good cricketing shots, keeping the tempo up, and looking for boundaries. It is holding a little bit after they used cutters and knuckle balls to bowl. It was coming onto the bat with the new ball in excellent shape.”
