IPL 2023: [WATCH] MS Dhoni Mocks Deepak Chahar For Dropping A Catch; Later Signs His Jersey

Despite CSK successfully pursuing the revised target, MS Dhoni was seen brutally taunting Chahar over that dropped catch. If Deepak Chahar had not taken that crucial catch of Shubman Gill while the Gujarat Titans opener was batting on three in the IPL 2023 game, Chennai Super Kings would have had a smaller target to chase on Monday.

Gujarat eventually finished with 214 for 4, with Sai Sudharshan (96) and Wriddhiman Saha (54) scoring the majority of the runs, but Gill’s 39 off 20 had given the team the perfect start.

Even though CSK beat the revised target of 171 runs in 15 overs during the rain-delayed game in Ahmedabad. MS Dhoni was seen brutally taunting Chahar over it and denying the CSK star a Sunil Gavaskar moment.

After CSK had given Gujarat the opportunity to bat first, it took place in the second over of the game. With Tushar Deshpande delivering a fuller delivery on the pads. Dhoni’s placement of Chahar at backward square was ideal.

Deepak Chahar is brutally mocked by MS Dhoni for a missed catch

The ball flew directly in Chahar’s direction after Gill flicked it uppishly. He had a good chance to make the catch, but he eventually missed it. Dhoni did not respond at that time, as he hardly ever does during a game. But after the game, Chahar was informed by the captain.

As Dhoni had done for Gavaskar at the conclusion of Chennai’s final league game in Chepauk. Chahar was seen in a social media video asking for an autograph on his CSK jersey, just like the 41-year-old had done for the latter.

Dhoni immediately declined him and motioned for him to go. Then, Rajiv Shukla, vice-president of the BCCI, was still dizzy, Dhoni was seen telling him that Chahar had dropped an easy catch. Eventually, the CSK legend autographed Chahar’s jersey.

In an interview with Gaurav Kapur for “Breakfast with Champions” prior to the championship game, Deepak Chahar discussed his friendship with Dhoni, with whom he had played his inaugural IPL match in 2016 for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants.

“I know MS Dhoni well. Even on flights, we always sit together, and he spoils me the most”, he had said.
