IPL 2023[WATCH]: IPL Qualifier 2 Between GT And MI, Gavaskar And Bishop Respond On Shubman Gill

During his 129-run innings against the Mumbai Indians, Shubman Gill stunned Rohit as well as commentators Gavaskar and Bishop with a shot akin to a tennis forehand.

Shubman Gill put on an outstanding batting performance on Friday night. He smashed 129 off just 60 deliveries to lead his team to a 62-run victory over the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023 Qualifier 2.

The victory guaranteed Titans a spot in the 2023 Indian Premier League championship game, where they will face the Chennai Super Kings.

In Ahmedabad, the young opener set a new record by scoring 129. This is now the highest individual score in IPL playoff history. He did this by smashing 10 sixes and seven fours.

In an impressive display of strokeplay, Gill smashed the MI bowlers all over the field. He hit Akash Madhwal for three sixes in one over, which, in his own words, prepared him for a big game-winning score.

Even Rohit Sharma appeared visibly dumbfounded as a result of one shot in the 17th over of the innings against Cameron Green.

In the second IPL Qualifier between GT and MI, Rohit is confused by Shubman Gill’s “My goodness” slap shot. Gavaskar and Bishop respond.

Gill charged down the track and hit a bizarre six over deep midwicket. Green bowled a short-pitched delivery, confusing even the on-air commentators Ian Bishop and Sunil Gavaskar.

The latter described it as a “tennis shot,” remarking, “It’s a parallel six! It almost looks like a tennis shot!”.

After seeing Gill’s breath-taking shot, Bishop exclaimed, “Oh glorious, my goodness”.

In addition to scoring his third century of the 2023 season, Gill became the third player to reach the 800-run milestone in this year’s edition of the tournament.

Gill is currently the IPL 2023 player with the most runs scored, and he will probably win the Orange Cap at the end of the campaign.

Devon Conway of the Chennai Super Kings, who has already amassed 625 runs. He is the player on the remaining teams in the season who comes the closest to him.

A standing ovation from the crowd and the Titans dugout greeted Gill. As he left the field after being eventually dismissed by Madhwal in the 17th over of the innings.

On May 28, the Titans and Super Kings will square off in the tournament’s championship game. MS Dhoni’s team defeated GT by a margin of 15 runs in the first qualifier earlier this week.
