The assistant coach of Lucknow Super Giants, Sridharan Sriram, expressed optimism about the inclusion of the rapid bowler Mayank Yadav in the upcoming match against Rajasthan Royals at Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Yadav experienced discomfort in the lower abdominal region during the previous match against Gujarat Titans. LSG selected Mayank in the auction before IPL 2022 but didn’t get a chance to play that season.  He missed the next edition due to a torn hamstring.

However, he caught everyone’s attention by bowling at speeds exceeding 155kph in his initial two matches, sparking speculation about his potential inclusion in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup.

“He’s bowling today and appears fit, but we’ll conduct a final assessment before tomorrow’s game to determine his availability against RR,” stated Sridharan Sriram during Friday’s pre-match press conference.

“He is a terrific talent and from the place he comes, he knows very well what to do and what not to. The quality he has with his length is not inferior to others in this season’s IPL and with that pace, it is very hard to play shots against him, and that is what makes him special,” said Sriram.

Yadav has participated in three IPL matches thus far, securing six wickets, with three apiece against PBKS and RCB. During a match versus Gujarat Titans at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Yadav had to leave the field after bowling just one over. He struggled with the pace and conceded three boundaries, totalling 13 runs.

LSG stands fourth in the points table, having secured five victories in eight matches. They go into their home game against RR with consecutive wins over Chennai Super Kings. Lucknow Super Giants are set to encounter Rajasthan Royals at Ekana Stadium on Saturday.
