On Monday, December 11, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the conclusive player roster for the IPL 2024 auction. A total of 333 cricketers are set to be auctioned in Dubai on December 19.
Among the 333 cricketers, 214 are Indian, and 119 are from overseas, which includes two players from associate nations. The IPL 2024 auction list includes 116 capped players, 215 uncapped players, and the two cricketers from associate nations.
Despite selecting 333 players for the auction, the 10 IPL franchises can collectively fill a maximum of 77 slots, including 30 overseas slots. In the top price bracket of ₹2 crore, 23 players have enlisted their names.
Among them, only three Indians—pacers Harshal Patel and Umesh Yadav, and all-rounder Shardul Thakur—have set their base price at ₹2 crore. In the category of overseas players, Harry Brook, Travis Head, Rilee Rossouw, Steve Smith, and Australian captain Pat Cummins have listed their reserve price at ₹2 crore.
Cricketers with a base price of ₹2 crore for the IPL 2024 auction
Harshal Patel, Umesh Yadav, and Shardul Thakur, the Indian trio, were released by their respective franchises before the IPL 2024 auction. Despite Harshal Patel’s 14-wicket haul for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2023, his economy rate was high at 9.66.
Umesh Yadav secured just one wicket in eight matches for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during IPL 2023, with an economy rate of 9.95. All-rounder Shardul Thakur had an underwhelming season for KKR as well, managing seven wickets in 11 games with an economy rate of 10.48. He scored 113 runs with the bat, averaging 14.13.
Regarding England’s dynamic batsman, Harry Brook, he was let go by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) following a lackluster performance in the IPL 2023 season. While he did score a century, his overall performance was subpar.
