CSK CEO confident about Dhoni fitness

MS Dhoni will be leading the Chennai Super Kings side for the Indian Premier League 2024. Under his captaincy, CSK registered their 5th title defeating Gujarat Titans in last ball thriller played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Chennai Super Kings decided to retain him during the retention list on 26th November 2023. He suffered from knee injury during last year’s IPL and had surgery after the season. Dhoni promised to play this year’s IPL due to the love and affection received from the crowd during the 2023 edition of IPL.

Chennai Super Kings CEO K Viswanathan is confident that he would be fit to play IPL 2024. He managed a niggle in the entire last during the 2023 edition. The legendary wicketkeeper struggled with his batting including 104 runs in 16 matches with a strike rate of 184 and also played some valuable knocks that helped CSK register impressive totals.

“If our leader has given a word, he has never gone back. He already told me what he was planning to do in that interview. I am sure that knowing MS, he will always do what he has committed to do. He is quite fit. Thalaivan is thalaivan (our leader is our leader),” Kasi Viswanathan said in a video shared by CSK.

MS Dhoni underwent knee surgery at Kokiben Hospital on 1st June 2023. He played the entire season with problem and had to strap on his knee helping CSK register their fifth title. After surgery, he was discharged and returned to Ranchi for rest and rehabilitation.

Retention and Release List for CSK in IPL 2024

Chennai Super Kings decided to retain the core players that they featured in the 2023 IPL. MS Dhoni was one of them along with Conway, Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santer, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Ajiyanka Rahane, Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ajay Mandal, Rajvardhan Hangekakar, Mukesh Chaudhary, Matheesha Pathirana, Shaikh Rasheed, Simarjeet Singh, Nishant Sandhu, Prashant Solanki, Maheesh Theekshana.

Ben Stokes will not feature for Chennai Super Kings due to workload management. They have decided to release Dwaine Pretorius, Bhagath Varma, Senapati, Kyle Jamieson, Akash Singh, and Sisanda Magala.
