IPL 2024: “Doctor Told Me…”: MS Dhoni Provides Significant Update Regarding His Injury And Possible Return To The Next Season

MS Dhoni, the former Indian cricketer, shared a significant update about his knee injury and potential IPL return. In a recent media interaction, Dhoni mentioned that he’s recovering well after his knee surgery in June.

According to the doctor’s advice, he expects to feel “much better” by the end of the year. This is reassuring news for Dhoni’s fans who hope to see the wicketkeeper-batsman participate in another IPL season before retiring from active cricket.

“Knee has survived the operation, going through the rehab patch, the doctor told me you would feel much better by November. But no problem in day-to-day routine,” said Dhoni in a video that is going viral on social media.

Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2020, is widely considered as one of India’s greatest-ever cricket captains. He holds a unique distinction as the sole Indian skipper to achieve victories in all three major white-ball ICC tournaments.

Under Dhoni’s leadership, India secured triumphs in the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. Dhoni’s captaincy record is impressive, having led India in 332 matches, the most by any international cricket captain.

Out of these, he claimed victory in 178 matches, suffered 120 losses, six were tied, and 15 concluded with no result. His captaincy win percentage stands at 53.61. Dhoni’s final appearance in the Indian national team was during the 2019 ICC World Cup semi-final against New Zealand in Manchester on July 10, 2019.

In the final match of IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) played, and CSK won by five wickets, becoming IPL champions for the fifth time under MS Dhoni’s leadership. This was a special final that lasted three days, and CSK managed to score the required 171 runs on the last ball of the match to secure their victory.
