Sunrisers Hyderabad posted the highest-ever total in IPL history with 278 for 3 against Mumbai Indians played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on 27th March 2024. MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to field first. Travis Head, playing his first match this season for SRH showed intent right from the word go and put pressure on MI bowlers.

Hardik Pandya dismissed Mayank Agarwal cheaply with a simple catch to Tim David at mid-on. Travis Head looked in sublime touch reaching fifty off just 18 deliveries and did not allow MI bowlers to settle. At the end of the first six overs, SRH raced away to 81 for 1.

After the first timeout, Head and Abhishek Sharma kept the momentum hitting boundaries with ease. Coetzee eventually dismissed Travis Head caught by Naman Dhir. Head and Sharma added 68 runs for the 2nd wicket.

Abhishek Sharma showed his intent to put enough pressure on MI bowlers. Markram joined in with Sharma keeping the scoreboard ticking. Abhishek Sharma reached fifty off 16 balls and maintained pressure on MI bowlers.

Abhishek Sharma eventually was dismissed by Chawla for 63 off 23 balls. Abhishek and Markram added 48 runs for the 3rd wicket. Klassen made the batting look at ease smashing them to all parts of the ground. The second timeout was taken with the scoreboard reading 214 for 3.

Klassen dominated the play hitting sixes and fours with ease. On the other hand, Markram also hit some lovely shots. Klassen reached fifty off 23 deliveries and maintained enough pressure on MI bowlers in the final few overs. Klassen and Markram belted MI bowling adding unbeaten 116 runs for 4th wicket. It was a sensational batting effort as SRH ended with 277 for a loss of 3 wickets.

Klassen remained not out on 80 off 34 balls with 4 fours and 7 sixes. Abhishek Sharma smashed 63 off 23 deliveries with 3 fours and 7 sixes. For MI, Hardik Pandya, Piyush Chawla and Coetzee took 1 wicket each.
