IPL 2024: Gautam Gambhir Lands In Kolkata, Join KKR Camp

Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir landed in Kolkata on Thursday, March 14 ahead of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. He will be mentoring the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team in the upcoming season of the T20 tournament.

The Kolkata Knight Riders will kick off their 2024 Indian Premier League season on Saturday, March 23 against the Delhi Capitals in Chandigarh. Ahead of the upcoming season, Gambhir landed in Kolkata with the team management to begin the preparations for the season. The franchise shared a video on their official Instagram broadcast channel where Gambhir can be seen with the team management.

 

Gautam Gambhir returns to Kolkata Knight Riders

Last year, Gautam Gambhir was announced as Kolkata Knight Riders’ mentor for the 2024 Indian Premier League season. He was part of the franchise earlier as a player from 2011 to 2017. He led them to two IPL titles in 2012, and in 2014. Gambhir will be joining head coach Chandrakant Pandit in the coaching group for the Knight Riders.

“Venky Mysore, CEO of KKR, announced today (Wednesday, November 22) that Gautam Gambhir will return to KKR as “Mentor” and join hands with head coach Chandrakant Pandit,” said the Kolkata Knight Riders in their press statement.

The Kolkata Knight Riders finished seventh last season, winning just six matches. They will be keen to make a comeback in the upcoming tournament. Shreyas Iyer returns to the team, after missing the last season due to injury. The franchise has also announced Dushmantha Chameera and Phil Salt as the replacements for Gut Atkinson and Jason Roy.
