IPL 2024: KKR Nitish Rana Reacts To Gautam Gambhir and Shahrukh Khan’s Meeting

Gautam Gambhir and Shahrukh Khan met each other on Thursday. Gambhir led Kolkata Knight Riders to two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014. He retired from IPL in 2017 and has been coaching the Lucknow Super Giants franchise since last year. Under his coaching, LSG reached the knockout stage on both occasions.

Gautam Gambhir posted a picture with KKR co-owner and actor Shahrukh Khan on 21st September 2023. “He’s not just the king of Bollywood but the king of hearts. Every time we meet, I go back with endless love and respect. So much to learn from you. Simply the best.”

Gambhir has been working for Star Sports network as an expert and worked for the broadcasting team during the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023 that took place in Sri Lanka. His performance with the KKR franchise was brilliant leading them to 2 titles during 2012 and 2014. Before joining KKR, he was part of the Delhi Capitals franchise.

KKR’s Performance since Gambhir’s departure

Since the departure of Gautam Gambhir in 2017, Kolkata Knight Riders’ performance in IPL has gone down drastically. Their best-ever performances came during the 2021 edition where they reached the finals losing to Kolkata Knight Riders.

Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, Kolkata Knight Riders finished seventh in the 2022 edition. Nitish Rana led side disappointed with their performances during this year’s edition not able to qualify for the playoff stage.

During the 2022 edition, KKR played a total of 14 matches with 6 wins and 8 losses. During the 2023 edition of IPL, they could not qualify for the playoff stage winning 6 matches with 12 points. KKR would look to perform much better next year.

KKR captain Nitish Rana had an outstanding year in IPL 2023. He scored 413 runs from 14 matches ( 14 innings) with 3 half-centuries to his name including the best score of 75. Despite his brilliance, KKR could not qualify for the playoff stage.
