Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a dominating 67-run victory over Delhi Capitals in match 35 of IPL 2024 played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi on 20th April 2024.
After being asked to bat first by Pant, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma plundered the Delhi Capitals bowling putting on 131 runs for the opening wicket. Shahbaz Ahmed and Nitish Reddy provided the impetus to help SRH post 266 for 7 in 20 overs.
In reply, Jake Fraser McGurk showed his class by putting SRH bowlers under pressure along with Abhishek Porel. Despite Fraser’s efforts, Delhi Capitals were bundled out for 199. T Natarajan was the pick of bowlers for SRH with 4 for 19 in 4 overs. Travis Head was named the Player of the Match award for his 89 off 32 deliveries.
Here we look at the list of records broken by SRH during their thrashing of Delhi Capitals in match number 35.
- Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma broke the record of the highest runs in the first six overs during IPL history. They smashed 125 runs surpassing the KKR record of 105 that they put against RCB in 2017. This is the highest-ever first six overs in T20 format.
- Travis Head broke the record for most runs by a player for SRH in IPL history. During yesterday’s match, Head was at 84 off 26 deliveries. He surpassed David Warner’s record of 62 off 23 deliveries against KKR in Hyderabad in 2019.
- Travis Head smashed fifty off 16 deliveries equaling the record of Abhishek Sharma who reached half-century off 16 balls against Mumbai Indians. Head and Abhishek Sharma are currently the joint-fastest fifty for SRH in IPL history.
- The explosive left-handed opener Head reached fifty thrice within the first six overs this season. He joined the list of players who have completed this feat. Warner has reached fifty-six times, Chris Gayle and Sunil Narine reached three times each.
- SRH reached the fastest century in the history of IPL reaching it in 5 overs. CSK held the previous record-smashing 100 off six overs against PBKS in the 2014 edition.
- Despite Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel making a comeback with quick wickets, SRH posted 158 for 4 in 10 overs which is a record in first 10 overs during IPL history. They surpassed their record of 148 for 2 against MI this season.
- SRH equaled the record of 250 plus scores with Surrey. SRH posted 277 for 3 against Mumbai Indians. They broke their record of 287 for 3 against RCB.
- A total of 22 sixes were hit in the SRH innings against Delhi Capitals. They equalled the record of 22 sixes against RCB at Bengaluru.
- SRH also reached the third-fastest 200 in IPL history reaching it in 14.5 overs. They achieved the fastest-ever 200 score off 14.4 overs against MI during this season. Before this, RCB achieved the fastest 200 in the 2016 edition against PBKS.
