Mumbai Indians will face Delhi Capitals in the first match of the doubleheader to be played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 7th April 2024. Both teams would look to go up the table as MI has not registered any victories so far in the entire tournament while Delhi Capitals would be hoping for a much better performance after their 106-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders.

Both teams would be looking to showcase their skills in Mumbai and hope to lead their team to victory. MI is currently at number 10th spot while Delhi Capitals is at number 9th.

Here we look at the 3 player battles to look out for in match number 20 of IPL 2024 between MI vs DC:

  1. David Warner vs Jasprit Bumrah

David Warner showed intent against Kolkata Knight Riders right from the word go in reply to a mammoth total of 273. He failed to convert the start into a big score. On the other hand, Bumrah looked threatening against Rajasthan Royals but failed to pick up any wickets.

Warner would look to put pressure on Bumrah right from the word go putting them under immense pressure. The star MI bowler will look to get wicket of Warner to put Delhi Capitals batting in trouble during the first six overs.

These two great players for their teams would decide the fate of the game in the first six overs. The pitch at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai promises to be a brilliant pitch to bat on.

  1. Khaleel Ahmed vs Rohit Sharma

Khaleel Ahmed struggled with his rhythm in the previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders with a new ball. He could not pick early wickets which put DC under immense pressure during the first six overs.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma fell for a duck against Rajasthan Royals. Rohit has to play attacking cricket for MI in the first six overs to put some pressure on DC bowling, especially Khaleel Ahmed.

Khaleel looked threatening for Delhi Capitals picking up important wickets. He will be key again with the new ball and pick an early wicket of Rohit Sharma to put pressure on MI batting.

3. Suryakumar Yadav vs Axar Patel 

Mumbai Indians will see the return of Suryakumar Yadav for the match against Delhi Capitals. It would be a major boost for MI as SKY would look to showcase his attacking skills.

On the other hand, Axar Patel was given one over against Kolkata Knight Riders. Axar Patel would look to control the run flow in middle overs and pick his wicket to derail MI’s innings.

 

Suryakumar Yadav is known to play attacking shots which would put pressure on Axar. This player battle in the middle overs would decide the fate of the game.
