Kolkata Knight Riders registered their 3rd successive win of IPL 2024 with a 106-run win over Delhi Capitals at Vizag on 3rd April. It was a superb batting performance by KKR as Sunil Narine 85, Raghuvanshi 54, cameos by Russell and Rinku Singh ensured that Shreyas Iyer led side posted a mammoth total of 272 for 7 in 20 overs.

Mitchell Starc eventually opened his account in the tournament by dismissing Mitchell Marsh and David Warner. Starc gave away 11 runs in his first over before he struck twice getting rid of Marsh and Warner cheaply to leave Delhi Capitals in trouble.

The Australian pace bowler played his first IPL match after a long time. He featured for the RCB side and did a decent job. He would return to his old franchise KKR. In the first two matches, Starc struggled with his rhythm conceding too many runs against SRH and RCB in the death overs.

Performance of Mitchell Starc in IPL 2024

The premier Australian pace bowler Mitchell Starc was bought for a whopping 24.75 Crore in the IPL auction by Kolkata Knight Riders. He struggled in the first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens, Kolkata with figures of 53 runs in 4 overs including 26 runs in the 19th over that changed momentum in favor of SRH.

He went wicketless again in the next match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Bengaluru. Mitchell Starc gave away 47 runs in his 4 overs without picking any wickets with Virat Kohli hitting him for runs in the 20th over. Starc returned to form with figures of 2 for 25 in 3 overs against Delhi Capitals defending 273 runs.

Starc would be hoping for better performances in the upcoming matches with the new ball for KKR. His bowling efforts will be key for KKR to go a long way and keep momentum. Sunil Narine, Phil Salt have been in good form which led them to win matches with their attacking style of play.

Kolkata Knight Riders are currently at the top of the points table with 6 points with a net run rate of 2.52.
