Saurav Chauhan, a promising 23-year-old cricketer hailing from Gujarat, marked his inaugural appearance for the Bangalore franchise in the exhilarating IPL 2024 encounter against Rajasthan on the memorable date of April 6th.

This significant milestone in Chauhan’s budding career was witnessed at the illustrious Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, where he stepped onto the field to showcase his talent and potential. Notably, Chauhan’s journey to the pinnacle of the Indian cricketing spectacle is emblematic of dedication and perseverance, as he hails from humble beginnings as the son of Dilip Chauhan, a diligent groundsman in the cricketing hub of Ahmedabad.

The opportunity to don the RCB jersey came to fruition for Chauhan during the fervent auctions held last December, where he was acquired by the franchise for a commendable sum of INR 20 lakh.

Tasked with the responsibility of filling the shoes of Anuj Rawat in the RCB playing XI, Chauhan’s selection bore the stamp of confidence from none other than skipper Faf du Plessis, who lauded the young cricketer’s prowess and demeanor during the pre-match proceedings. In expressing his gratitude for this career-defining opportunity, Chauhan graciously acknowledged the instrumental role played by his coach Tarak Trivedi, his unwaveringly supportive parents, and the nurturing environment fostered by the Gujarat Cricket Association.

Previous record of Saurav Chauhan

Chauhan’s voyage through the echelons of domestic cricket commenced with his debut for Gujarat in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy of 2021, a watershed moment that paved the way for further achievements including his maiden appearance in the prestigious Vijay Hazare Trophy later that same year. The subsequent leap into the realm of first-class cricket in February 2022 marked yet another significant milestone in Chauhan’s illustrious career trajectory.

With a commendable tally of 19 T20 matches under his belt, Chauhan has amassed an impressive total of 464 runs, showcasing an average of 29 coupled with a formidable strike rate of 152.13. The statistics from his previous stint in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy edition underscore his mettle, with Chauhan amassing 251 runs from 8 games, boasting an enviable average of 35.85 and an awe-inspiring strike-rate of 184.55.

This stellar performance, inclusive of two fifties and a top score of 61, attests to Chauhan’s mettle as a dynamic and dependable cricketer. Beyond the T20 arena, Chauhan’s cricketing prowess extends to the realms of first-class and List A cricket, with a commendable record comprising two centuries and four half-centuries across formats.”
