Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma produced a dominating display of batting as they chased down 166 runs in 9.4 overs against Lucknow Super Giants in match number 57 of IPL 2024 played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on 8th May. Chasing 166 to win, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma showed intent right from the word putting them under immense pressure.

Abhishek came as an impact player replacing T Natarajan. It was a superb batting display by both Head and Abhishek Sharma keeping the momentum going for SRH. Head displayed attacking batting reaching fifty off just 16 deliveries. SRH openers raced away to 107 for 0 in the first six overs.

After the field restrictions, Head and Abhishek Sharma continued their positive mindset not allowing any chances for LSG bowlers. Abhishek Sharma also made fifty of 19 deliveries. SRH openers made sure that they did not allow any chances for LSG bowlers. Both completed the task in 9.4 overs. Head remained not out on 89 off 30 deliveries with 8 fours and 8 sixes while Abhishek Sharma scored 75 off 28 balls with 8 fours and 6 sixes.

SRH openers chased down the target in 9.4 overs. With this win, SRH moved to third place in the points table. It was a disciplined bowling effort by SRH bowlers initially as Nitish Reddy took a stunning catch to dismiss de Kock. Sanvir Singh took another superb catch to dismiss Marcus Stoinis leaving LSG in trouble.

A superb piece of direct hit ran out Krunal Pandya. For SRH, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of bowlers with 2 for 12 in 4 overs. Pat Cummins was economical before taking a tap by Pooran and Badoni in the last over.

KL Rahul’s struggle ended with a good catch by T Natarajan. Nicolas Pooran and Ayush Badoni rescued the LSG innings helping them to post 165 for 4 in 20 overs.
