IPL 2024: Top 5 Players Who Are Most Likely To Miss The Next Edition Of IPL

The forthcoming IPL 2024 mini-auction is scheduled to occur at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena on December 19. Ahead of this event, all ten franchises are required to submit their lists of released and retained players by November 26.

The ongoing trading window has witnessed minimal activity, with the only notable transfer being West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd moving from Lucknow Super Giants to Mumbai Indians. Given that this marks the final year of the three-year contracts for all players, substantial trade activity is not anticipated.

The spotlight, however, is on veteran players, particularly Indian stalwarts who have been integral to the Indian Premier League for an extended period. Some of these players, once in their prime, now find their impact diminishing. If released before the IPL 2024 auction, they might encounter challenges in securing buyers in Dubai.

Here are the players who might miss IPL 2024:

1. Sheldon Jackson

Among the Indian players whose return to IPL 2024 seems improbable, the first on the list is Sheldon Jackson. Despite being a consistent presence in the league, representing franchises like Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Jackson’s track record lacks consistency, with only 9 matches played since his IPL debut in 2017.

2. Siddharth Kaul

Siddarth Kaul, another player with unfulfilled promise, has played 55 IPL matches since 2013, accumulating 58 wickets. However, his role has often been that of a backup bowler, and concerns about his pace and ability to swing the ball might impact his chances in the upcoming auction.

3. Piyush Chawla

Piyush Chawla, despite his significant contributions over the years, faces uncertainty in IPL 2024. The leg-spinner, who played a pivotal role for Mumbai Indians in 2023, might find it challenging to secure a spot given his age and the emergence of younger, more talented spinners.

4. Kedar Jadhav

Kedar Jadhav, a late addition to Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2023, struggled to make an impact. At 38, he may not align with the franchise’s future plans, potentially marking the end of his IPL career if released.

5. Amit Mishra

Amit Mishra, a seasoned bowler with a rich history in the IPL, faces an uncertain future. At 41, with recent performances suggesting a decline in form, Mishra’s fitness and age might pose obstacles to securing a spot in IPL 2024.

As the IPL 2024 approaches, the fate of these players remains uncertain, with the looming question of whether their storied IPL careers will continue or reach their conclusion in Dubai’s auction arena.
