Virat Kohli

IPL 2024

Royal Challengers Bengaluru suffered a 28-run loss to Lucknow Super Giants at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on 2nd April 2024. Chasing down the target of 182 runs to win, Virat Kohli looked impressive with intent against Siddharth and Krunal Pandya. He showed his class against Naveen UL Haq.

His innings showed promise before Siddharth dismissed him. Kohli made 22 off 16 deliveries with 2 boundaries and 1 six. After his dismissal, RCB’s batting struggled as they could only make 153. Mahipal Lomror came as an impact player and gave some hope of winning with some lusty hits against Yash Thakur. Despite his efforts, RCB lost the match by 28 runs.

Virat Kohli began his IPL campaign with a sluggish knock of 21 off 20 deliveries against CSK that resulted in RCB struggling. He then showed his class with a match-winning knock of 77 against Punjab Kings that helped RCB chase down the target.

He then followed up with a superb unbeaten 83 against Kolkata Knight Riders that helped RCB post 181 for 6 in 20 overs. Kohli reclaimed his Orange Cap with a quickfire 22 off 16 deliveries but could not convert it into a big score against LSG.

With this loss, RCB is currently at number 9th place with 1 win and 3 losses from 4 matches. It was a disappointing batting performance as Faf, Maxwell, and Green struggled against the sheer pace of Mayank Yadav. Rajat Patidar looked impressive but could not convert it into a big score.

Virat Kohli Achieved Great Feat

Virat Kohli became the first Indian to play 100 T20s matches at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru against Lucknow Super Giants. Kohli has played for the RCB franchise since the inception of IPL in 2008.

Kohli achieved the feat of scoring the most runs at a single venue. He made a total of 3267 runs in T20s at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Despite his brilliant performances, RCB has not won a single title yet in the last 16 years and would be hoping for a change of fortune when they play table toppers Rajasthan Royals on 6th April at Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur.

Rohit Sharma is the second Indian player to feature in 80 T20s matches at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
