IPL 2024: Virat Kohli Presents A Signed Jersey To Noor Ahmad After The RCB vs GT Match

During the IPL 2024 match between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Saturday (May 4), Virat Kohli presented a signed jersey to Noor Ahmad after the Afghanistan spinner dismissed the Indian legend.

Kohli was on track to chase down the Titans’ target of 148 and remain unbeaten, but in the 11th over, Ahmad’s delivery induced a faint edge off Kohli’s bat, caught by Wriddhiman Saha behind the stumps.

Kohli attempted to play the ball towards the covers, but it spun away, resulting in the edge being caught by the keeper. However, RCB successfully pursued the target in the 14th over, guided by sensible innings from Dinesh Karthik (21*) and Swapnil Singh (15*).

Following the match, Noor Ahmad posted a photo of Kohli’s gifted jersey on his Instagram stories. He captioned the post:

“Always one of my fav. Thanks @virat.kohli.”

Kohli’s message on the jersey to Ahmad read:

“Dear Noor, Well bowled. Wish you the best.”

In addition to Kohli, Ahmad also took the wicket of Will Jacks (1), who had scored a century against the Titans in the previous match. Ahmad ended with figures of 2/23 from four overs. Following this win, RCB rose to seventh place with four victories in 11 league matches. They need to win their remaining three games to potentially qualify for the playoffs.

Noor Ahmad will represent Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup 2024

The talented spinner, Noor Ahmad, has earned a spot in the 15-player Afghanistan squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. The prestigious ICC tournament is scheduled to be held in June in the USA and West Indies.

He will be one of the four dedicated spinners in the squad, joining Rashid Khan, Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman, and Nangyal Kharoti. Additionally, Mohammad Nabi will contribute as a spin-bowling all-rounder.

During the 2023 ODI World Cup, Ahmad took five wickets in four matches. It will be intriguing to observe his effectiveness on spin-friendly pitches, particularly in the Caribbean, during the T20 World Cup.
