IPL 2024: [WATCH] ‘Itna Zyada Practice Karo…’ – Rishabh Pant Shares Insights Into His Approach When Playing Unconventional Shots

Rishabh Pant, the skipper of Delhi Capitals, has been garnering attention with his outstanding displays in the current IPL 2024 campaign. Despite encountering an injury setback in December 2022, Pant has staged a remarkable return, showcasing his batting skills and wicketkeeping prowess.

During a recent interview on Star Sports’ Captains’ Speak show, Pant provided insight into his unorthodox shot-making skills, offering valuable perspectives on his approach.

He stressed the significance of continuous practice, expressing, “Practice to the point where thinking becomes unnecessary.” Pant believes that intuition is pivotal in effortlessly executing unconventional shots during competitive matches.

Pant says, “The shots come on instinct, have to practice as well, and some shots are pre-planned as well, you expect that the bowler will do this, so I can do that, so it’s a combination and add-ons of a couple of things of what’s there in the mind that this can be done.”

“There’s a build-up when the bowler bowls, at good length, you tried a little so he can feel he can pitch it up even more, so there’s a calculation involved and that’s why we practice so that we build a muscle memory.”

“Practice so much that you don’t have to think, you see the ball and hit the ball, that’s why we practice so much. That helps in the match, we see the ball and execute the shot,” Pant adds.
