IPL 2024: [WATCH]- MS Dhoni Practices Bowling In The Nets

MS Dhoni is gearing up for the crucial RCB vs CSK encounter by opting to bowl in the nets on Thursday, May 16. It appears that Dhoni is fully concentrated on the upcoming RCB vs CSK match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 18.

The renowned wicketkeeper chose to switch roles during a net session and tried his hand at bowling on May 16. This marks the first time Dhoni has bowled in his IPL career. During the net session, Dhoni was observed bowling some gentle off-spin deliveries to the batters, a practice he is known for.

Even in IPL 2023, Dhoni was spotted bowling in the nets to CSK batters. The recent video showcasing the CSK star’s bowling exploits has already gained widespread attention.

Raina previously remarked that Dhoni was the most challenging bowler he encountered in the nets. The former CSK batsman noted that if Dhoni dismissed you, he would playfully tease and remind you of the dismissal.

“I think Muralitharan and Malinga, but in the nets, it was MS Dhoni. If he got you out in the nets, then you’d not be able to sit with him for one and a half months because he’d keep gesturing and remind how he got you out.”

“He’d bowl off-spin, medium pace, leg spin, everything. In the nets, he would even justify his front foot no-balls (laughs). Wherever he’d get a red cherry in a Test match, he’d go for it. In England, he’d swing it full throttle,” said Raina.

Is Dhoni expected to bowl in the RCB vs CSK match?

Although Dhoni may have bowled in the nets on Thursday, fans shouldn’t anticipate seeing the CSK star bowl during the match on Saturday. Dhoni has been managing a few minor injuries this season, which is why he has been batting later in the order than usual.

While Dhoni has bowled in Tests and ODIs and has claimed one wicket in the 50-over format, it’s unlikely he’ll bowl in the IPL match. Additionally, Dhoni is known for his bonding and might share a light moment with the RCB team, as he recently enjoyed tea with them.
