Gujarat Titans’ star spinner Rashid Khan dismantled Heinrich Klaasen’s stumps, providing his team with a crucial breakthrough in the ongoing IPL 2024 match against SunRisers Hyderabad at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

This wicket was Rashid’s sole success in the match but proved pivotal as it halted SunRisers’ momentum. The dismissal occurred in the 14th over when Rashid delivered a flat ball targeting the stumps.

Klaasen attempted to hit it over mid-wicket while moving onto the backfoot but failed to connect with the ball. The 32-year-old batsman displayed visible frustration by punching his bat after his dismissal. Klaasen made 24 runs from 13 deliveries, including one boundary and two sixes.

The SunRisers opted to bat first, maintaining the same lineup that secured a 31-run win over the Mumbai Indians in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, the Titans, who suffered a heavy defeat against the Chennai Super Kings in their last match, made changes, replacing Sai Kishore and Spencer Johnson with Darshan Nalkande and Noor Ahmed.

Ultimately, the SunRisers posted a total of 162/8 in 20 overs, with Abhishek Sharma and Abdul Samad being the top scorers, both contributing 29 runs each.

Heinrich Klaasen emerged as the highest scorer for SunRisers Hyderabad in their initial two matches

Klaasen, who scored 24 runs from 13 deliveries before getting out, had performed exceptionally well in the first two matches. He scored 63 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders and remained unbeaten on 80 runs against the Mumbai Indians in SunRisers’ only home game thus far.

Mohit Sharma stood out as the most effective bowler for the Titans against Hyderabad, claiming three wickets while conceding 25 runs in his four overs. His skillful execution of slower deliveries proved particularly effective on the pitch.

Additionally, Omarzai, Umesh Yadav, Rashid Khan, and Noor Ahmed each took one wicket, contributing to the collective effort to limit the SunRisers’ scoring.
