Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant was recently observed engaging with youngsters at the team’s training camp in Delhi. As they gear up for their upcoming IPL 2024 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 20, the Capitals are brimming with confidence following victories over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) on the road.
Currently positioned sixth in the points table with three wins from seven matches, DC is striving to ascend. Pant has been a stalwart with the bat for his team, amassing 210 runs at an impressive strike rate of 156.72, which includes two half-centuries. Moreover, his adept glove work behind the stumps has been commendable.
Offering fans a peek into Pant’s off-field persona, the Delhi franchise shared a video on their official Instagram account showcasing the captain’s lighthearted interaction with children.
Broad said: “The selection for the Indian team is up in the air a little bit. You have some players pending in that team. Rishabh Pant’s probably the one on whom there’s a lot of discussion about. There was a shot I saw him play against KKR, a no-look flick over deep square leg for six.”
He continued: “The moment he played that shot, I thought, he has got to be in that T20 World Cup squad. He’s ready. He’s good to go. I’d like to see him be an Impact Sub in a couple of games, taking a bit of the workload off his shoulders. He’s a match-winner, so I think if I was the selector, he’d be my wicketkeeper in the World Cup squad.”
In another realm, former English fast bowler Stuart Broad recently advocated for Pant to secure the wicketkeeper-batter role in India’s squad for the forthcoming 2024 World Cup. Expressing his support during a discussion on Star Sports, Broad endorsed Pant for the pivotal position, emphasizing his suitability for the role.
