Mumbai Indians are currently doing bonding exercises ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 starting from 22nd March. Hardik Pandya has been appointed as new captain for MI this season replacing Rohit Sharma.

Hardik Pandya along with Ishan Kishan, Lasith Malinga, and the rest of the team were involved in an intense paintball match as former skipper Rohit Sharma missed from bonding exercise. After training session, the Mumbai Indians squad went to Alibagh for bonding session and would be looking to start the season on a winning note.

Mumbai Indians would start their opening encounter against Gujarat Titans on 24th March at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Hardik Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans.

Hardik Pandya will face a tough challenge to take over Rohit Sharma who led Mumbai Indians winning a five-time IPL title.

The official social media handle of Mumbai Indians posted a glimpse of the side’s “all smiles” break trip to Alibaug, which saw the majority of the squad share a few laughs ahead of what’s anticipated to be a challenging IPL season.

The absence of Rohit Sharma in the bonding session has added tension around the MI team with One family.

Mumbai Indians will be without Dilshan Madushanka, and Gerald Coetzee for the first half of IPL due to injuries. Jasprit Bumrah, Nuwan Thusara, and Arjun Tendulkar will be their fast-bowling options. Luke Wood has been a replacement for Jason Behrendroff. Romario Shepherd will be fast bowling all-rounder option and will be a key member for Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai Indians won the title on five occasions. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, MI won the title in 2013, 2015, and 2017. They won back-to-back titles in 2019 and 2020.

Rohit Sharma failed to qualify for the playoff stage in 2021 and 2022. They reached the playoffs stage during 2023 losing to Gujarat Titans in qualifier 2.

Hardik Pandya’s Performance for Gujarat Titans

Hardik Pandya performed brilliantly for the Gujarat Titans. Under his captaincy, Gujarat Titans won the first-ever title in IPL 2022 winning against Rajasthan Royals. They finished as runners-up during last year’s edition losing to Chennai Super Kings in a last-ball thriller.
