Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that they tried to look for replacements for Ambati Rayudu in the ongoing trading window ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 season. Ambati Rayudu retired from the tournament last season following Chennai Super Kings’ title-winning campaign.

The trading window for the upcoming season will be open until December 12. The Chennai Super Kings did look for Ambati Rayudu’s replacement. However, they couldn’t finalise any deals. Rayudu joined the franchise 2018 and has won three titles with them. Speaking in a video released by CSK, Viswanathan spoke about their plans for the tournament. He said,

“We have done only one trade in the last 15 years. That is for Robin Uthappa. We did look out for some players as a replacement for Ambati Rayudu, but we could not get it. A slot has to be filled. We will look to fill up that slot with some youngster if we are not able to get an experienced player.”

Kasi Viswanathan also spoke about the interesting trades and retention of players ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 auction. He expressed that the availability of some of the Australian players at the auction makes it interesting. The mini-auction is most likely to be held on December 19 in Dubai.

“With regards to Hardik, we finally found out that he returned to Mumbai Indians. There have been some interesting players released. This will be a good auction because I heard that some of the Australian players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Travis Head are all coming back to the IPL. So it will be an interesting auction,” said Kasi Viswanathan.
