IPL 2025 Auction: Delhi Capitals Sign Jake Fraser-McGurk For INR 9 Crore

Australia’s young talent Jake Fraser-McGurk is set to enter the IPL auction for the first time this year. Despite already playing in the tournament, this will be his debut under the hammer at an IPL auction. Fraser-McGurk first appeared in the IPL during the 2024 season, representing the Delhi Capitals.

Initially going unsold at the auction, he was later brought in as an injury replacement for Lungi Ngidi. The dynamic opener made an immediate impact, amassing 330 runs at an impressive strike rate of 234, including four half-centuries.

Beyond the IPL, the 22-year-old has showcased his skills in Major League Cricket, International League T20, and the Big Bash League. He has also represented Australia in white-ball cricket, featuring in 5 ODIs and 7 T20Is. Ahead of the IPL mega auction, Fraser-McGurk has set his base price at INR 2 crore.

Delhi Capitals have secured Jake Fraser-McGurk for INR 9 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction, utilizing their Right to Match (RTM) card to bring the Australian back into their squad. Punjab Kings initially led the bidding at INR 5.50 crore, eventually raising it to INR 9 crore. However, Delhi matched the final bid to retain the talented Australian player.

In IPL 2024, Jake Fraser-McGurk was not sold during the auction. However, he was later signed by the Delhi Capitals as an injury replacement for Lungi Ngidi, meaning he did not have a direct auction price that season.

Jake Fraser-McGurk made a strong impression in his debut IPL season in 2024 with the Delhi Capitals. In the 14 matches he played, the dynamic opener scored 330 runs at an average of 27.50. His strike rate was a remarkable 234, showcasing his aggressive batting style.

Fraser-McGurk hit four half-centuries, with his highest score being 72. His impressive performance in the IPL 2024 season solidified his reputation as a promising young talent in the competition.
