Chennai Super Kings’ newest prodigy, 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre, made a sensational start to his IPL career in 2025 with a blazing knock against Mumbai Indians. Drafted in as a replacement for injured skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mhatre wasted no time making an impact. He smashed 32 runs from just 15 balls, including four boundaries and two towering sixes.

His fearless approach caught everyone’s attention, especially as he scored 16 off his first four balls. Despite his spirited effort and half-centuries by Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja, CSK narrowly lost the game. Nonetheless, Mhatre’s performance has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise difficult season for the Chennai franchise.

Jadeja Impressed by Mhatre’s Power in the Nets

Ayush’s prowess isn’t limited to match day performances alone. During a CSK net session, the young batter left even the seasoned all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja impressed. In a clip shared on CSK’s social media, Jadeja can be seen reacting enthusiastically to Mhatre’s powerful shots from behind the stumps.

His praise — “SHOTTT!” — resonated across the training ground, as Mhatre sent the ball soaring with remarkable ease. The video highlights not only the teenager’s raw talent but also the encouragement he’s receiving from senior players. It’s clear that Mhatre is quickly becoming a fan favourite and a promising asset for CSK moving forward.

CSK and SRH in Do-or-Die Clash at Chepauk

Chennai Super Kings now gear up for a must-win encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Both teams find themselves at the bottom of the points table with just four points each from eight games, making this clash crucial for their playoff hopes.

CSK, usually dominant at home, have struggled to adapt to the Chepauk conditions this season, facing unexpected losses due to inconsistent batting and underwhelming bowling. Meanwhile, SRH’s aggressive approach in the powerplay has led to frequent collapses, despite the presence of match-winners like Heinrich Klaasen and Abhinav Manohar. Both teams will be desperate to turn their fortunes around in what promises to be a high-stakes battle.
