IPL 2025: BCCI To Address Player Safety After PBKS vs DC Match Called Off

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to implement special evacuation measures for players following the abrupt suspension of the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at Dharamsala’s HPCA Stadium on Thursday.

As per a Times of India report, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla confirmed that necessary arrangements are being discussed. The match was halted midway, and the stadium was evacuated. Shukla also stated that further decisions regarding the continuation of IPL 2025 will depend on how the situation unfolds.

“We are organising a special train to bring everybody home safely. As of now the match has been called off and the stadium has been evacuated. We will take a call on the tournament’s future depending on the situation tomorrow. As of now, players’ safety is utmost important,” he said.

The match was called off midway as a precaution due to floodlight failure at the stadium and the prevailing circumstances.

PBKS at 122/1 When IPL 2025 Match Against DC Is Called Off

The start of the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was delayed due to rain at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Punjab won the toss and chose to bat, with openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh putting on a rapid 122-run partnership in 10.1 overs.

As captain Shreyas Iyer walked in following Arya’s dismissal, the game was called off. Arya hammered 70 runs off 34 balls, including five fours and six sixes, at a strike rate of 205.88, while Prabhsimran remained unbeaten on 50 off 28 balls, striking seven boundaries at a rate of 178.57.

DC pacer T Natarajan claimed Arya’s wicket. It is still unclear whether the remaining IPL 2025 matches will proceed as planned or face further disruptions due to weather or other factors.
