Bairstow added to MI squad for playoffs after going unsold in IPL 2025
Jonny Bairstow wasn’t originally part of the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad but was brought in ahead of the playoffs as a replacement, following the departure of players like Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton due to international commitments.
MI signed Bairstow as a temporary replacement for Will Jacks for ₹5.25 crore during the final phase of the tournament. He is likely to fill Ryan Rickelton’s spot in the playing XI and is expected to open the innings alongside Rohit Sharma in the high-stakes Eliminator.
Bairstow previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2019 to 2021 before moving to Punjab Kings, where he spent the next three seasons. In his IPL career, he has featured in 50 matches, scoring 1589 runs at an average of 34.54, with two centuries and nine fifties to his name.
