Fast bowler Avesh Khan played the role of a game-changer for Lucknow Super Giants as they edged past Rajasthan Royals by a narrow margin of two runs in a last-over thriller at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
His spell of 3/37 included the crucial wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, and Shimron Hetmyer, flipping the game in LSG’s favor when it seemed firmly in RR’s control. Earlier, after opting to bat first, LSG posted a competitive total of 180/5 in 20 overs.
Aiden Markram led the scoring with a composed 66 off 45 deliveries, while Ayush Badoni supported with a fluent 50 off 34 balls. Abdul Samad added firepower at the end, smashing an unbeaten 30 off just 10 balls, including four sixes. For RR, Wanindu Hasaranga picked up two wickets, while Sandeep Sharma, Jofra Archer, and Tushar Deshpande claimed one each.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Fifty Goes in Vain
Chasing 181, Rajasthan Royals began strongly with a solid opening stand of 85 runs in just 8.4 overs between Yashasvi Jaiswal and debutant Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The 14-year-old Suryavanshi impressed on debut, scoring 34 off 20 balls with two boundaries and three sixes, including one off his very first delivery in the IPL.
Jaiswal continued his brilliant form by registering his third consecutive fifty, eventually scoring 74 off 52 balls with five fours and four sixes. His 62-run partnership with Riyan Parag kept RR on course, but Avesh Khan dismissed both of them in the 18th over, turning the tide in LSG’s favor.

Final Over Drama at Jaipur
With nine runs needed off the final over, the game was still wide open. Avesh Khan returned to bowl the last over and struck a decisive blow by removing Shimron Hetmyer on the third ball. The equation then came down to six needed off the last three deliveries.
RR batters Shubham Dubey and Dhrub Jurel tried to get their side over the line but couldn’t break through LSG’s composure. Ultimately, Lucknow Super Giants held their nerve in a tense finish to snatch a thrilling two-run victory, with Avesh Khan rightly being hailed as the star of the night.
