Fourteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, blasting a 35-ball century, the fastest by an Indian and second-fastest overall in IPL history, as Rajasthan Royals thrashed Gujarat Titans. Suryavanshi’s explosive 101 off just 38 balls, featuring 11 sixes and 7 fours at a strike rate of 265.79, left the crowd stunned.

He raced to fifty in just 17 balls and needed only 18 more to complete his century. His dazzling opening stand of 166 runs with Yashasvi Jaiswal ensured the Royals chased down Gujarat’s hefty 209-run target with 25 balls remaining, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Titans’ Solid Start Undone by Middle-Over Pressure

Gujarat Titans started well with Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan adding 53 runs in the PowerPlay. Gill’s elegant strokes and Sudharsan’s aggressive batting set a strong platform, with Gill reaching his half-century off 29 balls. However, after Sudharsan’s dismissal at the hands of Maheesh Theekshana, the Royals’ spinners tightened the grip.

Even though Jos Buttler’s arrival initially boosted Gujarat’s run rate, crucial wickets in the death overs, including Gill’s fall on 84, meant Gujarat could not fully capitalize. Buttler’s late assault brought up his fifty and helped Titans post a competitive 209/4, their first 200+ score in Jaipur since 2024.

Royals’ Ruthless Chase Led by Suryavanshi and Jaiswal

The Royals’ response was ferocious. Suryavanshi and Jaiswal unleashed a brutal attack during the PowerPlay, smashing 87 runs at a rate of 14.5 per over. Suryavanshi reached his half-century in just 17 balls and continued to dominate, punishing debutant Karim Janat with clean hitting.

He completed his historic century with a six off Rashid Khan, becoming the youngest centurion in IPL history. Though Suryavanshi and Jaiswal eventually fell, their efforts ensured an easy chase. With just 11 needed in the final overs, Riyan Parag and Jaiswal sealed a commanding eight-wicket win for Rajasthan Royals in just 15.5 overs.
