Delhi Capitals (DC) moved KL Rahul up to open the batting against Gujarat Titans (GT), and he delivered a brilliant performance. He scored a quick century in just 60 balls, reaching the hundred with a beautiful boundary. This was his fifth IPL century, putting him ahead of Shubman Gill, David Warner, and Shane Watson, who each have four centuries.

Rahul stayed not out on 112 runs from 65 balls, hitting 14 fours and 4 sixes. After this innings, only Chris Gayle (6 centuries), Jos Buttler (7), and Virat Kohli (8) have more IPL hundreds than him. His innings on Sunday night was typical of his style β€” he started slowly but then played excellent shots all over the field to keep his team in the game.

He handled both spin and fast bowling comfortably and also crossed the 8000-run mark in T20 cricket during the match. Rahul is now the fifth player to hit a century in IPL 2025 and the first right-handed batter to do so this season.

This match is very important for Delhi Capitals as the playoff race is tight. A loss could make things harder for them, so they’ll be counting on their bowlers to support Rahul’s brilliant innings and help secure two vital points.

Opting to bat first, Delhi Capitals (DC) had a cautious beginning as openers KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis managed only 14 runs in the opening three overs. Trying to increase the scoring rate, Faf fell in the fourth over, scoring just 5 runs from 10 deliveries, dismissed by Arshad Khan.

KL Rahul then shifted gears, striking two boundaries off Mohammed Siraj in the fifth over and following it up with two sixes and a four off Kagiso Rabada in the sixth. Rahul reached his half-century in 35 balls and stitched together a 90-run stand for the second wicket with Abishek Porel, who played a quickfire knock of 30 off 19 balls before getting out.

Following Porel’s dismissal, Rahul, alongside skipper Axar Patel, continued to build the innings steadily. At the end of the 15th over, Delhi Capitals stood at 136/2, with Rahul unbeaten on 86 and Axar on 10.
