IPL 2025: Mukesh Kumar Fined 10% Of Match Fee For Code Of Conduct Breach In MI vs DC Clash

Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Mukesh Kumar has been fined 10% of his match fee for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the 2025 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, May 21. The incident falls under a Level 1 offence as per Article 2.2, which relates to the misuse of cricket or ground equipment during a match.

The 31-year-old accepted the match referee’s decision without contest. Mukesh had a mixed outing with the ball—he started well, claiming the wickets of Will Jacks and Tilak Varma while conceding just 21 runs in his first three overs. However, his final over proved costly, leaking 27 runs and shifting momentum in MI’s favour.

From 132/5 in 18 overs, Mumbai surged to 180/5 by the end of their innings. Mukesh Kumar ended with figures of 2/48 from four overs. The right-arm quick has had an underwhelming season overall, managing 11 wickets in 11 matches with an economy rate exceeding 10. He was later substituted by KL Rahul as the Impact Player during Delhi’s chase.

Mumbai Indians Eliminate DC From Playoffs With Dominant Win

Delhi Capitals (DC) loss of momentum at the end of Mumbai Indians’ innings carried into their batting, as they struggled from the start. DC lost three wickets within the first five overs, managing only 27 runs on the board.

Although the middle-order chipped in with some useful runs, DC never posed a serious threat to Mumbai’s strong bowling attack and were eventually bowled out for a low total of 121 in just 18.2 overs. This defeat ended their playoff hopes, marking their fourth consecutive season of first-round elimination.

DC last made the playoffs in 2021 and are still chasing their first IPL title. After a strong start to the 2025 season with four straight wins, they have since won only two of their last nine matches, resulting in a surprising early exit. DC will look to finish on a positive note in their final league game against Punjab Kings in Jaipur on May 24.
