IPL 2025: [WATCH] Early Blows For MI As Will Jacks, Rickelton Get Out Quickly

The IPL 2025 clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) took place at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl first, hoping to take advantage of the pitch conditions.

The match was a crucial one for both teams as they looked to gain momentum in the tournament. With a strong home crowd backing them, LSG aimed to put up a competitive performance, while MI looked to chase down whatever target was set.

LSG Set a Strong Total with Marsh’s Fiery Knock

In the IPL 2025 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians at the Ekana Stadium, LSG were invited to bat first. They took full advantage and posted a big score of 203 for 8 in 20 overs. Mitchell Marsh gave them a powerful start by hitting a half-century in just 27 balls.

He scored 60 runs from 31 balls before being dismissed by Vignesh Puthur through a caught-and-bowled effort. Puthur bowled a tight spell, ending with figures of 1 for 31 in four overs. Towards the end of the innings, David Miller added quick runs, scoring 27 off 14 balls.

His contribution helped Lucknow cross the 200-run mark, which is not common at this ground. Hardik Pandya was the standout bowler for Mumbai, taking 5 wickets for 36 runs. He picked up important wickets in the middle overs, including Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant, to bring Mumbai back into the game.

Mumbai’s Shaky Start, Will Jacks Falls Early

Mumbai Indians struggled at the beginning of their chase of 204 runs. LSG bowlers Akash Deep and Shardul Thakur struck early and removed both openers in the first three overs. Will Jacks, who was expected to provide a quick start, was dismissed early by Akash Deep.

The delivery was well-placed, and Jacks could not build any momentum, falling for a low score. Along with him, Ryan Rickelton was also sent back quickly. These early dismissals put Mumbai under pressure and gave Lucknow a clear advantage in the match.

Middle-Order Resistance and LSG’s Bowling Edge

After the early loss of wickets, Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir were at the crease and tried to settle the innings. Earlier, LSG’s batting was boosted not only by Marsh and Miller but also by Ayush Badoni and Aiden Markram.

The two added a partnership of 51 runs in 31 balls, helping the team recover after the fall of quick wickets. Badoni scored 30 off 19 before being dismissed by Ashwani Kumar, and Markram made 53 off 38 before falling to Hardik Pandya. Despite Mumbai’s bowling efforts, especially from Pandya, the early wickets of players like Will Jacks left their chase in a tough position.
