IPL 2025: [WATCH]- Glenn Maxwell Falls For Golden Duck In GT vs PBKS Clash

Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was dismissed for a golden duck in the fifth match of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) against Gujarat Titans (GT). The game is taking place on Tuesday, March 25, at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

With this dismissal, Glenn Maxwell set an unwanted record for the most ducks in IPL history, reaching a total of 19. The 36-year-old walked in at No. 5 after Azmatullah Omarzai’s dismissal on the third ball of the 11th over, bowled by Sai Kishore.

Facing the fourth delivery, Maxwell attempted a reverse sweep against the left-arm spinner’s flatter ball but missed, getting struck on the body. Gujarat Titans players immediately appealed, and the umpire wasted no time in giving him out, marking an unfortunate golden duck for the explosive batter.

The Australian all-rounder did not review the decision, but replays later showed the ball was missing the stumps. With this dismissal, Glenn Maxwell now has the most ducks (19) in IPL history. Dinesh Karthik and Rohit Sharma are close behind with 18 ducks each.

Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bowl first against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Kagiso Rabada provided an early breakthrough, dismissing Prabhsimran Singh for five in the fourth over.

Debutant Priyansh Arya impressed with a quickfire 47 off 23 balls, smashing seven boundaries and two sixes. He built a rapid 51-run partnership off 21 balls for the second wicket with skipper Shreyas Iyer. Azmatullah Omarzai contributed 16, while Glenn Maxwell departed for a golden duck.

Shreyas maintained his attacking approach, reaching his half-century in just 27 balls. As of the latest update, Punjab Kings were 166/5 after 16 overs, with Shreyas batting on 66 and Shashank Singh at two.
