IPL 2025- [WATCH]: Mukesh Kumar Injured Against LSG, Major Setback For DC

The Delhi Capitals (DC) faced a significant setback in their fourth match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as their 31-year-old right-arm pacer Mukesh Kumar sustained an injury.

The match is currently being played at the Dr. YSR Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Mukesh Kumar, who had an impressive stint with DC that earned him a call-up to India’s national team across all formats, was re-signed by the franchise for INR 8 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

However, he had a rough start to the season, conceding 14 runs in his first over, which was the sixth over of the innings. He returned in the 12th over, giving away eight runs while dismissing the dangerous Mitchell Marsh, who had scored a blistering 72 off 36 balls.

Unfortunately, Mukesh Kumar could not continue bowling after suffering an injury while fielding in the 15th over. When Mitchell Starc delivered a slower short ball to Nicholas Pooran, the batter pulled it towards deep backward square leg, where Mukesh attempted to stop it.

Mukesh overran but stopped the ball with a one-handed effort, injuring his leg in the process and collapsing in pain. He left the field for treatment, and DC hopes it’s not serious, as his absence would be a big setback. You can watch the video here:

Delhi Capitals started the match as favorites to win

Ahead of the DC vs. LSG match, former India pacer Varun Aaron, while speaking to ESPNCricinfo, stated that Delhi Capitals were the favorites to win due to their strong bowling attack. He said:

“I’m going to go with Delhi just because they’re a settled unit, good bowling attack, good batting, good batsmen, experienced batsmen. I think there’s no comparison to experience.”

“Because you’ve seen through the IPL, if you are a bit inexperienced, the occasion can overhaul you and get the better of you. But Delhi seems really well settled, and Lucknow going in with injuries. So, I would back Delhi for this one.”
